Edward W. Horn ’49, recently submitted his harrowing experience
“I am 91 years of age and will be 92 in August 2016. I am a retired Major in the USAF and was a medium bomber pilot of a Martin Marauder B26. 72 years ago, on May 28 1944, at age 19 I was shot down on my 23rd mission in France and parachuted out of our burning plane.
I was captured by the Germans and became a prisoner of war and I was incarcerated in four different prison camps for 11 months, before being liberated by General George Patton on April 29, 1945. The first camp I was in was Stalag Luft III, from which they made a movie called the “Great Escape.”
“I would like to hear from any Phi Kaps who were in House from 1945-1949.”
