Dear Psi Chapter Alumni:
I am writing to see if anyone knows of any summer internship opportunities during summer 2020 relating to finance. I would like to seek a career in finance involving either investment banking, capital markets, wealth management, asset portfolio management, equity research, corporate banking, and private equity. Those are roles that I preferred but I would really appreciate the opportunity to work anywhere relating to finance and gain valuable insight in any financial industry going into my senior year.
I have finance experience as well as knowledge that can be applied to a myriad of future roles. This past spring I performed a stock pitch for the Nittany Lion Fund, a $9 million hedge fund run by Penn State students, after determining the 12 month target price of my stock through the DCF and evaluation of financial statements. As of right now the stock I pitched a buy for, Twitter, has increased 134% from $33.44 on April 1st to $44.26 per share and is approaching its 12 month target of $45.02 per share. I am currently taking advanced finance classes such as Security Analysis and Portfolio Management as well as Financial Markets and Institutions. Through the completion of these courses I will be able to gain knowledge in the fundamentals of security analysis and the impact of governmental regulation on the major credit institutions. My leadership qualities are what defines me as an exemplary worker. Coming into Penn State I was selected into the Sapphire Leadership Academic Program to develop my leadership skills in the professional work place. Through this program I have been taking special management classes focused on the difference between management and leadership. Not to mention I have served as a student manager for the Penn State Men’s Basketball Program helping manage both practice and games. I worked with my fellow managers ensuring the optimal training schedule and game day conditions for all 15 players resulting in the team winning its first NIT championship in a decade.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
