I have just reserved my room at the Nittany Lion Inn for the traditional reunion at PSU. It is my 50th and many of you guys are already Pioneers. The reunion date is May 31 and June 1& 2, 2012. We already have about 20 (including spouses) signed up for rooms at the NIt. There is lots of interest in making this a big Skull gathering. As of now (8/24/2011) you can get rooms at the Nittany Lion Inn if you say you are reserving for the “Traditional Reunion Weekend”. Otherwise they are “full” I am told. Rooms are $145 – $155. Send this to others that might be interested. I think we are going to have an article in the next Psidelights if there is room.
The Inn advises that they expect to be full in early October 2011 for this weekend in 2012. Act now – you can always cancel out with 72 hr notice.
PS. Life is good in New Bern, NC – earthquakes, Tornados, Hurricanes and all… Good excuse for a party!!!

Well – I finally have decided to do it. No – not self abuse.
Im retiring in the next 2 months and getting married. My company was sold – have got stock – and I’m gone. (I’m 64) I will be moving to Indianapolis where my bride is a pharmacist. – Hope to see many more away football games – and see some home football games as well – and go see the Skull House. Maybe Penn State in the Big Ten Championship in Indy.

Still on the east coast in Maryland, want to find a place in SF so I can spend some more time in California.
Saw the Lions play Indiana in DC this fall.
Best to everyone,

Carving duck decoys – what I did and may do in the future
Life is good – 43 years with my great Delta Gamma wife – Judy Good. We generally spend 12 – 15 years in one place, then move on to the next adventure. Our favorite place is Louisiana, having lived there for 15 years in Slidell; now we are 12 years in West Chester, PA. In 2009, we shall return to Louisiana to our next adventure in Alexandria in central LA.
I plan to have a shop behind my house where I can carve ducks and make crosses. Ducks are fun to sit on a shelf. crosses are fun to give to someone and tell them what it means.
My 98 year old aunt tells me life keeps getting better; I think she is right.
Sempre!

I attended the Best Years reunion in October 2003 at Sam Curry’s. What a great time. It was great seeing old friends and catching up on the last 40 years. Even though we all physically changed, everyone was the same as remembered.

A few Sundays ago, a gang of us were slurping post-barbeque margaritas, when who should show up but Brothers Sam Curry and Jim Swab. They were both seniors when I was a freshman, but Sam stuck around for an extra year (he couldn’t leave his laundry concession) and roomed across the hall from me. His brother Dave was in my pledge class, and we both went to many homecomings in the 602s and 70s, so I was a good bud of Sam and his wife, Dell. Sam and Dell were visiting San Diego from North Carolina and it turns out that Swab lives a few miles north of me…small world. Twas a brief but nostalgic visit, and Jim and I swore we’d hook up again for a drink before too long.

When I retired in 2000 we moved to the mountains of western N.C. near Boone. In 2001 my brother-in-law, along with Brother Richard Lindfors 55, and I took a road trip west to Utah and then up the backbone of the Rockies through Arches, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. At Jasper Alberta we hung a left and picked up the Alaska ferry at Prince Rupert, the ferry dumped us in Haines, Alaska, and we drove on into Denali for a week of incredible hiking and camping. Then it was on to Fairbanks and a quick trip to The Artic Circle where I presented Brother Lindum with The Badger. Some of you will recall the saga of the badger which resided in the party room showcase for several years. We ran out of gas on the Dalton Highway coming back and had to limp into Fairbanks running on Coleman fuel. It was a wonderful trip (two months and 15,000 miles). Bear count: (9) 5 grizzlies and 4 black.

Had a great visit last week from Winni and Joanne Nussbaumer along with Winni’s wonderful 90 yr. young mother! They arrived in beautiful 60 degree weather with their big RV pulling their two horse trailer with their two Tennesse Walkers. They were on their way to a month of riding with friends in the Fl panhandle and had planned to ride with us for a few days. Unfortunately, the next day we had a snow/ice storm that curtailed our riding and extended their visit to almost a week—-which was most enjoyable. We did get to finally ride twice the day before they left. Really got to know each other all over again and the four of us plan on an Equitour vacation this fall in Germany.
I want to thank the Phi Kap website for hooking us up after all these years. Keep up the good work. Robert Then PSI ’65

Had our first grandchild this past June 6th – “”D”” Day which was very appopriate since our son is a Blackhawk Company commander with the 101st Airborne waiting for orders somewhere in Iraq! We welcome any brothers to visit here in beautiful western North Carolina which is very similar to the Nittany Valley without the the severe winters.
